So much is happening! This must be the biggest celebration of the year in Tillamook. The Dairy Festival on June 28–29 starts off with a YMCA Milk Run that begins at 8 a.m. Participants have a choice of distances and can either walk or run. A Rose Planting Festival, held at the Tillamook County Pioneer Museum and sponsored by the Portland Royal Rosarians, takes place at 10 a.m. Then there's a children's parade at 10:30 a.m., followed by the Grand Parade at 11 a.m. with the theme "Hooked on Tillamook."
Then folks start heading to the Tillamook County Fairgrounds. The main event both days is the Tillamook County Rodeo: 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday. Other activities include a barbecue to benefit the FFA Saturday afternoon at the courtyard at the fairgrounds, a western dance Saturday evening at 9 p.m., and a Rotary sponsored Sunday ranch breakfast 7 to 11 a.m.
Expect to see bareback riding, steer wrestling, bull riding, wild cow milking, barrel racing, calf roping, and more at the rodeo. A special event is the junior bull riding.
Sounds like there's something for everyone this weekend. (503-842-7525; www.gotillamook.com)
