The 13th Annual Noll Longboard Surf Classic takes place October 4 and 5 in Crescent City, California. A new stand up paddle event has been added and is scheduled for October 3. The event is a true longboard competition and all boards must be at least 9 feet in length. This is a wonderful family-friendly event. There are no age requirements and everyone from the menahunes (12 and under) to the grand dukes (60-plus) are welcome to participate. All skill levels have an opportunity to compete, so don’t be shy about entering. This is one event where grandparents can be seen surfing with their grandchildren.
The participation fee is $40, which includes a T-shirt and goody bag. Advanced registration is recommended, although you may register the day of the event for $45 and there may or may not be space left in your desired division. Entries can be downloaded online, and are accepted by phone or in person at Noll Surf & Skate Shop.
People come from all over the country for this event. There are many beach activities occurring throughout the weekend, including a film and a wipe-out night after the awards. The Noll Longboard Surf Classic is a great weekend adventure, whether you’re catching a wave or relaxing on the sand watching. (707-465-4400; noll.net)
